Prestwich Carnival 2022 A Huge Success

Today, around 15,000 people attended the 100th Prestwich Carnival, which began with a huge parade of floats, dancers, bands and superheroes, including the Bury New Road project’s WW2 troop carrier and jeep.

The colourful parade wound its way from Rectory Lane, up Heywood Road, across Heys Road, down Fairfax Road and onto Bury New Road at Prestwich Village, cheered on by hundreds of people who lined the route.

The parade ended at St Mary’s Park, where one thousand morris dancers competed for the Thornley Groves Carnival Cup, while the dog show was also a huge attraction. With funfair in full swing, the main stage rocking and community stalls drawing lots of interest, this year’s return to Carnival, after the horror of COVID isolation, was well needed and well successful…

The Bury New Road project would like to thanks Parklife Community Fund, the ace WW2 people who allowed us onto their vehicles and all the volunteers who gave out hundreds of leaflets. It all made it a very special day all round…
