Our Funders…

The National Heritage Lottery Fund

Using money raised by the National Lottery, the Fund inspires, leads and resources the UK’s heritage to create positive and lasting change for people and communities, now and in the future. www.heritagefund.org.uk Since The National Lottery began in 1994, National Lottery players have raised over £43 billion for projects and more than 635,000 grants have been awarded across the UK.

“We are thrilled to support the Bury New Road project with a £29,376 grant, to celebrate the remarkable social and cultural heritage of this area” says David Renwick, Director, England, North, at The National Heritage Lottery Fund “Thanks to National Lottery players, this project will provide opportunities for the local community to better understand their own history and discover new elements in the process. The North is the home to fascinating heritage and we know it is a great way of bringing people together and creating a sense of pride of place.”

Granada Foundation

The Granada Foundation was established in 1965 and, to date, has awarded over £6.1m in grants to support projects by arts and science organisations in our region, the North West of England. It looks for imaginative proposals from organisations (preferably with charitable status) which will in some way make the North West a richer and more attractive place in which to live and work.
A spokesperson for the Granada Foundation added:

“The Trustees and Advisory Council of The Granada Foundation had no hesitation in recommending a grant to support the excellent Bury New Road community project” says a spokesperson for the Foundation “We are delighted to be associated with such a culturally diverse project which will touch the lives of the local community and beyond and create an important archive of the Road’s special history.”

Mary Monson Solicitors

“I came from London in 1976 to Salford, and it’s been the home of our firm ever since, whether we’ve been visiting clients in Strangeways Prison or defending them for their rooftop protests” says Mary Monson “All of us at the firm feel so very privileged to be a part of Bury New Road Project. My view has always been that if people can preserve their history, it’s much harder for others to deprive them of their future. Good luck to everyone. This will be a really important asset for the community.”

Sadly, Mary Monson passed away this year – here is our tribute – click here

The project is grateful to Salford City Council and Manchester Council which have funded and sorted the installation of eight banners along Bury New Road…
