Bugzy Malone And Bury New Road…

Bugzy Malone Welcome To The Hood

Now a multi millionaire, iconic grime artist, Bugzy Malone, had it bad on Bury New Road as he was growing up. And this traumatic past, which fired his future, is the pathway for loads of lyrics and some incredible tunes. Here are some verses, with links to the full songs and scenarios…

Beauty and the Beast

‘I told that I’m gonna be somebody, must have been hard to believe, when I’m sat there bagging up weed, breaking down twenty-eight G’s
And that was in Bury New Road
Bedroom stinking of cheese

But she was on a ride or die ‘ting
We’re like Beauty and the Beast

I’m not home much no more, she sits and cries about the times we were low
And when her family ask about me she says we’re cool
Tell her not to cry no more
‘Cause I’m coming home, I’m coming home…I’m not home much no more…’

Van Gogh Effect

‘Loud bangs, screams, everybody’s panicking
It’d become the scene of a crime
The way that the blue lights lit up the streets was a picture
And the way that the paramedics were full of blood was messed up
Now picture the guy from downstairs lay on a stretcher
What a terrible sight

Look, picture a van full of boxes, full of the family belongings
On to a different chapter, maybe some family bonding
Now they’ve got rid of the toxins
And an actual house with two floors, the future’s looking so bright
They were driving for miles in the blistering cold
The boy’s about nine at this point, will the story ever get told?
I guess nobody knows, as it continues to unfold
They pulled up on Bury New Road, back in 1999…’

Fire In The Booth

‘Drove past my mum’s old house on Bury New Road
The one she got evicted from
Went to McDonald’s
Ordered a cheeseburger and chips on an addicted one
Then I heard: ‘Can I get a picture?’
Stood there and I took fifteen pictures, don
With fifteen different kids
I was there on the phone but I left tongue twisted, don
I know I paint pictures with words
But I didn’t know I was the gifted one
And now they say I put Manny on the map
So I hashtag 0161…
…Drove past my mum’s old house on Bury New Road
The one I got evicted from
Drove straight past
Onto the motorway and straight into the distance don
Looked in the rear view mirror
Thinking about the past, on a majestic one
Cause if I didn’t go through what I went through
Then I probably woulda never wrote this song…’

Fire In The Booth Part 2

‘Considering this time last year I was stood here
Talking about Bury New Road
I was starving

I had drug money
But I didn’t know about getting money from touring…’

Соmе Тhrоugh

‘І’m lооkіng аt оnе mіllіоn роund hоuѕеѕ
Nоw аnd І’m thrее уеаrѕ іntо thе gаmе
І wаѕ lіvіng іn ѕоmеоnеѕ ѕраrе bеdrооm
Аnd іt wаѕ fіvе уеаrѕ аgо tо thе dау
І hаd а rеѕtrаіnіng оrdеr frоm Вurу Nеw Rоаd
Аnd а thоuѕаnd роundѕ tо mу nаmе
І’vе nоt lоng gоt bасk frоm thе Кіng оf thе Nоrth tоur
Аnd І јuѕt ѕоld оut аll ten dаtes…’

Late Night in the 0161

‘What can I tell ’em they don’t already know
They already knew about Bury New Road
They already know about the 0161

And how I put Manchester on the globe…’

Doe’d Up

‘I’m king of the north, I’m noble
Watch when they see the new crib
And I’m keepin’ the old one
And an apartment in south
We come a long way from Bury New Road…’
